HANG OUT AT BELMONT WITH DAVID THIS SUNDAY

Join David and his special guest, Democratic Attorney General Candidate Steve Shannon, this Sunday, June 7, from 4 to 6 p.m., for “politics and potables” at the Belmont Manor House in Ashburn, which at different times in history provided temporary quarters for both President James Madison and the Marquis de Lafayette.

The event is free and open to the public.  Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to contribute to Loudoun Interfaith Relief.  To RSVP, or for more information, please call Debbie Hawk at (703) 868-8856.

DAVID LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN FOR THIRD TERM

Surrounded by throngs of enthusiastic supporters, David formally announced his intention May 14 to seek a third term in the Virginia House of Delegates.

Launching his re-election bid in Lansdowne, Poisson thanked his supporters for the privilege of representing Loudoun in the Virginia General Assembly.  Citing legislation he introduced in the 2009 General Assembly to require insurance for children with autism, he asked for “another opportunity to return to Richmond to continue the important work of making Virginia the best place in America to live, work, and raise a family.”

David was first elected to the General Assembly in November 2005, defeating a four-term incumbent in his first try for elective office.  He was re-elected in November 2007, winning 19 of the 22 precincts in his district.

DAVID CHAIRS DINNER BENEFITTING AUTISM

David was named honorary chairman of this year’s Black, White and Candlelight Charity Event, a dinner held last Saturday, May 30, benefitting Autism Speaks and the ARC of Loudoun.  In his remarks at the sold-out event at Lansdowne Golf Club, David said, “Autism Is more than a child’s problem; more than a health problem; more than an insurance problem.  This is plainly and simply the civil rights issue of the 21st century.”

In the 2009 General Assembly session, David’s signature piece of legislation was a bill to mandate insurance coverage for children with autism. The bill won the approval of the Virginia Commission on Mandated Health Insurance Benefits, the only measure acted upon favorably by the commission this year.  David also sponsored House Bill 1602, which would have provided teachers who obtain board certification as a behavioral analyst an annual bonus and required local school boards to employ one board-certified behavioral analyst for each 25 students diagnosed with autism.

GOVERNOR TO HEADLINE EVENT FOR DAVID AT TRUMP NATIONAL

Virginia’s 70th Governor, Tim Kaine, will headline an event to support David’s reelection to the Virginia House on Tuesday, June 30, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Trump National Golf Club on Lowes Island Boulevard in Sterling.

A frequent visitor to Loudoun County during his term as Governor, this will be one of his last visits to the area before he surrenders the keys to the Executive Mansion in Richmond next January.  The event is being hosted by Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Vice Chairman Susan Klimek Buckley.

“Governor Kaine has without a doubt done more than any other politician in America today to pave the way for candidates like myself to win in places that had previously been unreceptive to Democrats,” said David.  “He is a great friend, and I am deeply honored to have him join us for this event.”

 CANVASS WITH DAVID THIS WEEKEND

Join David this weekend for canvassing in Ashburn on Saturday afternoon from 1:30 to 4:30 and on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00.  We will leave from the Broad Run High School parking lot both days.  There are doors aplenty to knock on before Election Day, and we need all the help we can get to make sure David’s message gets out.  Canvassing is easy and fun.  If knocking on doors isn’t your cup of tea, volunteer to record voter responses.  Show up whenever you can; leave whenever you have to.  For more information, call (703) 421-6899.
